Reminds me vaguely of the team hotlap races in the last season of WTCC (2017?)..

I like it!
You'd want every racer to get at least one very fast lap, and teammates can help with a toe etc. This allows for some great tactics imho.

But this also means that you have to be specific about the number of racers and laps. If you'd say; 3 racers, 3 laps: This would mean that every teammember needs to cooperate to get everyone exactly one superfast lap.

I'd be interested in programming a InSim client that supports this, but I don't think you really need it. ;-)

Cheers, Stan.

..thinking it over again..
Maybe it's better if I just finish the bash script(s) so they work correctly on mac/linux. Then I hope someone can help me out with making these work Windows..

Cool to hear you like it, Rane! ImageMagick works on windows, and is well supported with Python. I guess python is the way to go, to create a cross platform script.

I'll have a look into it, so i can develop it further
Automatic skin stretching
Van Sterberkt

Hey there! I was fiddling around with ImageMagick.
This gave me the idea to split a skin image to multiple (stretched) images.

Users can edit these images to their liking. They should not be concerned with skin stretching. A script could combine these images into the original skin image again.

In the attached zip you can find a script (works on unix systems) that cuts out the right and left sides of the XRT skin, and stretches them to 150%.

I want to turn this into a useable tool for everyone. Anyone like to help work this out?

The app/script should;
- Split (and resizes) parts of a skin
- Combines these split files into a single skin file again
- Work on Windows

Please let me what you think!

Nice! I didn't try the FBM with road tyres yet, lets see how this pre-season test goes! Cool

The program looks for files in the folder "careers". It looks like there are no career config files found in there. Maybe you didn't extract the zipfile completely?

Very nice! I'll give this a try next week

Practice starts with FBM first, try both full throttle and more subtle starts.
Do this with FOX & FO8 as well; try to get the feeling for single seaters with more power.
Then launching the BF1 with or without Traction Control will become easier for you. You can do it!

iRacing driving school is pretty good imo. We should create a video series like this in LFS Nod

I wanted to update the InSim documentation file for 0.6V, but I found that i still can't login to lfsmanual wiki. Any news on the re-implementation of the login system @Victor?

Thanks for thinking it through! I'll consider endurance races. A single 1+ hour race per event would be a improvement.

I agree that the points system is maybe to rigorous combined with the car groups/classes. I'll consider something like: 14, 11, 9, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1.
Maybe it's even better to not shift the points based on number of starting players, just give 14 points to the winner (even if only 1 racer started). That would motivate racers to fill all the car groups, would'nt it?
Potenza Multiclass Road League

Hi Racers,

I was thinking about a new kind of multiclass league. Cars are divided in groups based on a single make (see car groups below). For each event, racers can choose 1 of 3 cars in the group.

Points system
Top 10 (per car) receive points: 25, 18, 15, 12, 10, 8, 6, 4, 2 & 1. If less than 10 races compete in a car, the points table is shifted. So if 6 cars start, the finishers receive 10, 8, 6, 4, 2 & 1 points. I hope this points system motivates racers to spread (evenly) across the different cars in a group, providing nice multiclass racing)

Proposed schedule
Each event consists of 15 minutes of qualifying and 2 sprint races of +/- 20 minutes.
  1. UF @ AS1 - 23 laps
  2. XF @ WE1 - 12 laps
  3. XRY @ FE2 - 15 laps
  4. LX @ BL1 - 15 laps
  5. FX @ FE3 - 16 laps
  6. XRZ @ AS3 - 11 laps
  7. FZ @ AS5 - 7 laps
Car groups
UF
UF1 (UF1)
UFJ (UFR 23% restriction with road tyres, max 185/50-11)
UF4 (UFR 6% restriction with road tyres)

XF
XFG (XFG)
XFJ (XFR 21% restriction / 6kg added mass with road tyres, max 215/40-15)
XF4 (XFR 6% restriction with road tyres)

XRY
XRG (XRG)
XRX (XRT 20% restriction)
XRS (XRT 5% restrcition / 60kg added mass)

LX
LX4 (LX4)
LJ6 (LX6 35% restriction / 25kg added mass)
LX5 (LX6 7% restriction / 3kg added mass)

FX
FXO (FXO)
FX3 (FXR 32% restriction, with road tyres, max 275/40-18)
FX2 (FXR 23% restriction, with road tyres)

XRZ
XRT (XRT)
XR3 (XRR 34% restriction, with road tyres, max 325/35-18)
XR2 (XRR 24% restriction, with road tyres)

FZ
FZ5 (FZ5)
FZ3 (FZR 28% restriction, with road tyres, max 295/35-18 front & 355/30-18 rear)
FZ2 (FZR 20% restriction, with road tyres)

InSim
I'm thinking about programming a very simple InSim app to enforce the restrictions/tyre requirements, keeping track of points etc.

What do you think, would i need more rules? Would you join such a league?

Thanks for uploading @bowst. I've attached another config file, can you try this? Simply replace your config.edn file with the one in the attached zip.
Van Sterberkt

@bowst Looks like there's a typo or something in your `config.edn` file.
Can you post the contents of the file here?

Note that, I've changed the config file in the download zip, so you can download it again. Should work out of the box now for the default windows installation location.

Quote from mattt :Hey Bowst,

I left the lfs-career folder intact (name and contents) and dropped it into the LFS root folder - but it doesn't matter where the folder is.. And rename the config file as mentioned.

Give the full path to the java file when you call it (the java command line given).

I got it working yesterday (on Ubuntu), but haven't really played with it yet...

Cheers,
Mattt.

Indeed Mattt! Thanks

I've changed the zipfile, it simply contains a file called "config.edn" with a sensible default path. You don't need to edit it when you installed LFS in the default install location (on Windows).

Quote from bowst :I do all the steps above, it didn't work.

Also i don't quite understand what the step 2 mean. I just rename it to config.edn, copy to my lfs folder, and change the setup dir. Is this correct ?

Thanks for your reply!

Let me clarify: You can simply rename the "config.edn.example" to "config.edn". Leave it in the same place where the java file is. (in the directory where you've extracted the zipfile).
Then open the file with a simple text editor (notepad for example) and change the path ("C:\path\to\lfs\data\setups") to the data/setups path of your LFS install. For example: "C:\LFS\data\setups"

The file should look like this:
{:setup-dir "C:\LFS\data\setups"}
